Girls Volleyball Wins First Conference Title

With an undefeated record and HUHS’s first ever girls volleyball conference championship, the girls volleyball team hopes to bring its first state title to Hartford.

At the moment they are undefeated in conference with nine wins. The team’s goal was to finish the season as conference champions.

Varsity head coach Shannon Klink has been reminding her team of their goal and how to accomplish it on a daily basis.

We have just put a huge emphasis on controlling what we can control, [communication, effort, and energy],” Klink said. “We have worked extremely hard to stay consistent with these 3 things.”

The team achieved their goal on Friday, Oct. 16, when the girls solidified their undefeated season with a victory over West Bend West. The team earned its first ever girls volleyball conference title in HUHS history.

Now that the team has accomplished its goal to win the conference, they set their eyes on a bigger goal. Libero Casey Miller believes her and the team will make an appearance at state.

“I have a feeling we are going to accomplish these goals if we keep putting in the hard work and dedication,” Miller said.

With the three seniors quarantined, the team still continued to win games proving their hard work to pay off. Klink believes that the team’s position diversity has put them in a great position while losing players due to contact tracing.

“We have so many different athletes that can play so many different positions,” Klink said. “This has helped us through practice and competing at a high level every single day.”

With all of its players back, the team believes they are ready to give it all they have got on their road to state.
