Weightroom Compares Well to Local Fitness Facilities

As the days get colder and colder, it becomes harder to stay fit during the winter season. However, HUHS, Snap Fitness and the Hartford Recreation Center all offer time to get in shape during the winter months.

While working out there are multiple important details that should be looked into. Those details being the age of the equipment, equipment quantity, open space, and cost.

The HUHS Weight room features the newest equipment as it was constructed in the fall of 2020. Nearly all the equipment is brand new other than the foam rollers, bosu balance balls and exercise balls.

While the equipment is brand new there is still a plentiful amount. Usually there are about two to three dozen students in the Weight room after school, but there is still enough equipment for everyone to use.

Even with the large number of users, the HUHS Weight room has enough space to allow people to navigate. The areas by the cable machines as well as near the front desk can be slightly crowded, but the rest of the facility is usually fairly spacious.

Unlike most fitness facilities, a payment is not required to use the Weight room. There is no fee, however, as of right now it is required that those who are using the Weight room are in or plan on being in a sport.

The Hartford Recreation Center, however, requires a fitness membership. The cost of the fitness membership varies based on membership duration.

The costs are $5.75 daily, $28 monthly, $65 every three months, or $197 annually. The fitness membership gives access to a weight room, a cardio room as well as the gymnasium when it is open.

The weight room is fairly small with a limited amount of workout equipment. In comparison to the HUHS Weight room, the rec center weight room is small.

Unlike the rec center’s weight room, its cardio room is of decent size. There is much more cardio equipment at the rec center than what is offered at HUHS.

The gymnasium access is a stand alone feature not seen in the HUHS Weight room or Snap Fitness.

Snap Fitness is a commonly seen national workout facility. Like the rec center and most facilities, Snap requires a membership.

The membership at Snap Fitness requires a $38 monthly payment. Being a member includes access to weightlifting and cardio equipment.

Snap, however, is open 24 hours a day. The HUHS and Rec. Center times are much more restricted than that of Snap Fitness.

The size of Snap Fitness is similar in size to the HUHS Weight room, but the layout is much different. The layout of Snap feels more open than HUHS.

Snap also features a larger variety of equipment compared to the rec center and HUHS. Along with the larger variety, Snap has a large amount of cardio equipment similar to both the other fitness facilities.

For high school athletes, the HUHS weight room is the best choice with no fee and a plentiful amount of equipment. However it requires users to be in a sport and attend with one of their sports’ coaches. If students are not in a sport, then they would have to pay for one of the other options if they wanted to exercise in an indoor facility
